Copper Alloy 642 and Aluminum Bronze Machinability

We sell 642 aluminum bronze alloys (642-almu-bronze) and aluminum vs bronze with improved corrosion resistance and strength, better for forging and hot forming. Now available in custom sizes!

Stainless Steel Bar

Included in wide array of steel inventory, our 642 aluminum bronze alloys are supplied to our customers across the Midwest.

642-almu-bronze, a wrought aluminum silicon copper alloy, exhibits an exceptional capacity for hot forming capacities. This aluminum bronze alloy can a better alternative to 316 bronze due to its comparable machinability with improved corrosion resistance and strength with its additional aluminum content. This type of bronze alloy is lead-free and it can be excellent if hot-formed or forged.

642 alloy is a non-magnetic grade and possesses the highest machinability rating among all other bronzes and brasses. However, this grade is not heat treatable. It’s good for hot forming with its hot forge ability rate of 80 and 60 for its machinability rating. Machining operations such as soldering, arc welding joining, oxyacetylene welding, and fair brazing are not recommended.

We have this aluminum bronze alloy available in different sizes and shapes ranging from bars, rods, tubes, wires, and custom product forms for our customers’ various requirements.

This aluminum bronze alloy can be used in a wide variety of industrial applications and components which include:

  • Bolts and nuts
  • Bushings and bearings
  • Cams
  • Valve seats and stems
  • Pole line hardware
  • Valve bodies and same components
  • Marine hardware

Reasons to Buy copper alloy 642 and Aluminum Bronze vs Steel

Copper alloy 642 is a copper-based alloy with a high melting point. It is often used in the production of solders, welding rods, and other metal alloys. Plus, it has many advantages over other copper alloys because it has a high melting point, which makes it suitable for use in high-temperature environments. It also has good corrosion resistance and strength properties.

Copper alloy 642 is a type of copper-based alloy that has been used in industry for decades. It is the most commonly used alloy, which makes it a good choice for many applications.
