Inconel 625 bar – Excellent Resistance and High-Temperature Strength

Inconel 625 bar (UNS N06625) is an excellent alloy known for its resistance to crevice, pitting, and corrosion cracking, making it particularly effective against organic and mineral acids. It also possesses impressive high-temperature strength. Inconel is an austenitic, non-magnetic nickel-based superalloy commonly used in jet engines and chemical process applications.

Greater Corrosion Resistance and Solid Solution Effects

Compared to alloy 718, alloy 625 demonstrates significantly greater corrosion resistance in high-temperature environments. It exhibits exceptional toughness and strength across a temperature range from cryogenic to 2000 °F (1093 °C), thanks to the solid solution effects derived from refractory metals.

This particular Inconel grade can withstand stress rupture up to 1200 °F (649 °C) and provides scaling and oxidation resistance up to 2000 °C. the Inconel bar also shows excellent stress-corrosion resistance and fatigue strength against chloride ions.

Versatile Resistance in Highly Corrosive Environments

This type of Inconel alloy has proven its ability to withstand highly corrosive environments, particularly in alkaline, fresh water, salt water, air, and neutral salts. The alloying elements, such as nickel and chromium, resist attacks from oxidizing environments, while molybdenum prevents pitting and crevice corrosion. The alloy remains stable and unaffected by sensitization during welding.

The presence of chloride provides resistance against stress-corrosion cracking. These alloying elements collectively help the alloy resist oxidation and scaling at very high temperatures.

Hardness, Machinability, and Hardenability of Inconel Bar

The Inconel bar exhibits favorable hardness, machinability, and hardenability characteristics. It typically has a hardness range of 185 BHN to 287 BHN. The microstructure of Inconel alloy 625 remains austenitic at both low and elevated temperatures. While heat treatment does not harden the alloy, it can be hardened through cold working.

Advantages of Inconel 625 Bar

Inconel 625 Bar offers several advantages, making it a popular choice in various industries, including aerospace and defense. It is lightweight, corrosion resistant, and possesses high tensile strength. Additionally, it can be easily formed into complex shapes.

Moreover, this Inconel bar is a high-performance material widely used in aerospace, oil and gas, nuclear power generation, chemical processing, and other industries.

Wide Range of Applications

The Inconel bar exhibits high resistance across a wide range of environments and finds applications in marine, naval, aerospace, chemical processing, oil and gas industries.

It finds applications in the aerospace and defense industries. It is an excellent choice for producing products that require high resistance to corrosion and mechanical stress.

Some typical applications of this Inconel bar include:
